Hawthorne House is a dynamic interior design and lighting showroom in Athens, Georgia catering to Design Professionals and retail customers since 2003. 

Hawthorne House Inc. is the parent company of three distinct business divisions, Hawthorne House, a furnishings and decorating showroom; Scope Lighting, a lighting showroom and lighting design firm; and Lisa Ellis Design, an interiors and architectural design firm for both residential and commercial projects.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

  • Looking for a candidate to oversee several marketing/branding efforts, under the direction of the owner of the company, Lisa Ellis, as well as being an in-house liaison for marketing agencies. 

    The position will include capturing the products showcased in our interior design showroom located off Baxter Street. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to capture previous and current interior design projects by Ellis Design Group. 

    Position will be in-person for photography in the showroom and interior project job sites, but remote work for editing etc. 

    Compensation based on experience

    Qualifications: 

    • Ability to work with creative direction to build content for social media, newsletter content, website etc.

    • Familiar with Canon camera functions

    • Keen eye for composition, photo editing and retouching; both in PSD canva, lightroom, and iphone;

    • Interest in interior design

    • Knowledge of video and video editing

    • Portfolio preferably includes shots of interior spaces

    • Ability to select and edit specific photographs for different applications (social media, website, etc)

    • Squarespace and shopify experience is a plus

  • The Operations Assistant is key to the continued growth of Hawthorne House. The ideal candidate must be able to work directly alongside the Showroom Manager, identifying opportunities to improve workflow and take on daily operational tasks, from bookkeeping to building maintenance. The Operations Assistant must be able to pay attention to the details.

    Duties

    • Code and track all transactions in QuickBooks
    • Open Mail
    • Pay all bills
    • Assist in processing and tracking orders
    • Prepare month-end statements for Controller
    • Manage all building maintenance
    • Collaborate with showroom and design firm to assess administrative needs to help and create and implement solutions
    • Onboard new employees
    • Establish and maintain the administrative process within the organization

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to sit, stand, and kneel
    • Sit and stand for long periods of time
    • Use computer for long periods of time

    Skills and Experience

    • QuickBooks familiar
    • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
    • Excellent organization and communication skills
    • Mac proficiency preferred
    • Experience in MS Office
    • Reports directly to the Showroom Manager.

  • Summary

    The Showroom Assistant is a vital role for Hawthorne House. The ideal candidate must be able to work with clients on the showroom floor, keep the showroom floor in pristine condition, and work with operations to facilitate smooth operational flow. The Showroom Assistant must be people-oriented and customer service-focused.

    Duties

    • Answer all incoming calls and direct them to the correct department
    • Organize samples
    • Assist all clients in the showroom and with custom order sales
    • Maintain showroom appearance
    • Walk-in customer showroom sales
    • Manage part-time showroom staff
    • Assist showroom manager in all aspects of order placing and tracking and customer outreach and follow up

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to sit, stand, and kneel
    • Sit and stand for long periods of time
    • Use computer for long periods of time

    Skills and Experience

    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Mac proficiency preferred
    • Experience in MS Office
    • CRM knowledge and project management software preferred

    Reports directly to the Showroom Manager.
