Hawthorne House Inc. is the parent company of three distinct business divisions, Hawthorne House, a furnishings and decorating showroom; Scope Lighting, a lighting showroom and lighting design firm; and Lisa Ellis Design, an interiors and architectural design firm for both residential and commercial projects.

    Overview

    The Design Project Coordinator serves as the operational anchor for Hawthorne House projects, ensuring each design, furnishing, and lighting project moves efficiently from specification to installation.

    Working closely with the Showroom Sales Specialist, this role bridges clients, vendors, and internal teams to maintain seamless communication, clear documentation, and timely execution. The position supports all three Hawthorne House programs: Concierge, Encore, and To the Trade, overseeing logistics, project tracking, and scheduling from purchase through completion.

    Founded over 20 years ago, Hawthorne House is known for its long-standing relationships and trust within the design community. The Design Project Coordinator plays a vital role in sustaining that legacy by ensuring every project is organized, precise, and professionally managed.

    This position may be remote or hybrid, offering flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with the Athens showroom team.

    Responsibilities

    1. Oversee projects from sale through delivery and installation across all Hawthorne House programs.

    2. Communicate regularly with clients, vendors, and the internal team, delivering timely updates and client progress reports.

    3. Coordinate purchase acknowledgments, shipping schedules, and installation timelines to keep projects on track.

    4. Track all projects, freight, and vendor correspondence to ensure accuracy and budget alignment.

    5. Maintain organized documentation, including quotes, invoices, and delivery records.

    6. Anticipate delays or issues, propose solutions, and communicate proactively with team members and vendors.

    7. Partner with the Showroom Sales Specialist to align project details, priorities, and client communication.

    8. Support business development and marketing with project updates, photography, and completion documentation.

    9. Manage multiple projects simultaneously with precision, professionalism, and consistent follow-through.

    10. Contribute to ongoing improvements in project systems, documentation, and workflow.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in project coordination, interior design operations, or furniture and lighting logistics.

    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in interior design, decorative arts, or a related field.

    • Strong knowledge of vendor processes, lead times, and project tracking in the furnishings and lighting industry.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

    • Familiarity with project management software such as Monday.com and creative tools such as Canva.

    • Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or related design software is a plus.

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

    • Self-motivated and dependable with proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.

    Work Environment

    This is a consistent, full-time position, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role may be remote or hybrid, offering flexibility for candidates both within and outside the Athens, Georgia area. Projects are managed through digital platforms and regular collaboration with the showroom team.

    The position requires reliability during standard business hours and coordination with sales and design teams to maintain project flow and client satisfaction.

    Compensation

    Compensation is commensurate with experience and may include a base salary with performance-based incentives.

    Overview

    The Furniture Showroom Sales Specialist is based in our beautiful Hawthorne House showroom in Athens, Georgia, a destination known for its curated furnishings, lighting, and concierge-level service to both trade professionals and homeowners.

    This position is responsible for initiating and cultivating sales through Hawthorne House’s three signature programs: Concierge, Encore, and To-The-Trade. The Furniture Showroom Sales Specialist combines hospitality, design knowledge, and business development to identify opportunities, guide clients through selections, pricing, and budgets, and close sales.

    Working closely with the Design Project Coordinator, this role ensures each project moves smoothly from consultation to installation by maintaining clear communication and seamless handoffs. The position requires daily presence in the showroom, active outreach to both local and remote clients, and strong collaboration with the business development and marketing teams.

    Responsibilities

    1. Develop new client relationships for the Concierge, Encore, and To-The-Trade programs through in-showroom hospitality, remote outreach, and trade networking.

    2. Collaborate with the Hawthorne House business development and marketing team to support sales generation, showroom events, and outreach initiatives.

    3. Proactively generate leads from walk-ins, referrals, social and email follow-ups, and designer, developer, and real estate professional contacts.

    4. Conduct consultations with homeowners, interior designers, real estate professionals, and investors to guide selections, pricing, and budget decisions aligned with project goals.

    5. Prepare and present detailed quotes and proposals to clients, trade partners, and project leads, addressing questions and supporting timely decision-making.

    6. Record all communications, quotes, and sales progress in the designated CRM and tracking systems.

    7. Upon sale, collaborate with the Design Project Coordinator to transition the project for scheduling, logistics, and order management.

    8. Remain available as the primary sales contact for clarifications during execution while the Design Project Coordinator manages day-to-day fulfillment.

    9. Support showroom merchandising and vendor presentation updates to maintain a polished, current environment.

    10. Open and close the showroom daily, ensuring it is guest-ready and aligned with Hawthorne House standards.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in interior design, decorative arts, or a related field.

    • Experience in furniture, lighting, or interior design sales with a strong understanding of the furnishings and lighting market.

    • Proven success in showroom or design-related sales with ability to meet or exceed sales goals.

    • Working knowledge of key furniture and lighting manufacturers represented by Hawthorne House and the ability to speak confidently about construction, materials, and fabrics.

    • Familiarity with trade pricing, lead times, and the ordering process within the design industry.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

    • Experience with or understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other computer design platforms is a plus.

    Work Environment

    This position is based on-site in the Hawthorne House showroom in Athens, Georgia. The environment is collaborative, design focused, and fast paced. Daily presence is required to maintain showroom operations, engage clients and trade partners, and coordinate with the Design Project Coordinator and leadership team.

    The role includes regular interaction with clients both in person and virtually. Occasional off-site meetings or vendor visits may occur. Standard showroom hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Compensation

    Compensation is commensurate with experience and may include a base salary plus commission potential.

    Summary

    The Showroom Assistant is a vital role for Hawthorne House. The ideal candidate must be able to work with clients on the showroom floor, keep the showroom floor in pristine condition, and work with operations to facilitate smooth operational flow. The Showroom Assistant must be people-oriented and customer service-focused.

    Duties

    • Answer all incoming calls and direct them to the correct department
    • Organize samples
    • Assist all clients in the showroom and with custom order sales
    • Maintain showroom appearance
    • Walk-in customer showroom sales
    • Manage part-time showroom staff
    • Assist showroom manager in all aspects of order placing and tracking and customer outreach and follow up
