Overview
Hawthorne House — Athens, Georgia
Hawthorne House will be expanding its walk-in showroom hours beginning in December to Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are also introducing a refreshed retail division that will include a consignment service for high-end furnishings, antiques, art, artisan pieces, and decorative objects.
We are seeking a Retail Showroom Sales Coordinator to support this expansion and help lead the retail experience in our Athens showroom. This position blends sales, merchandising, and digital retail coordination within a creative, design-focused environment. The Retail Showroom Sales Coordinator will manage day-to-day showroom activity, assist walk-in clients, and oversee the consignment and retail program in collaboration with our marketing and outside sales teams.
This role is ideal for a sociable, detail-oriented person with strong visual instincts, a love of interiors, and a knack for connecting with people. The right candidate will help create a warm, polished showroom environment that reflects the distinctive aesthetic of Hawthorne House while supporting our broader sales and community engagement goals.Responsibilities
Manage daily retail sales within the Hawthorne House showroom, providing warm, attentive service to clients and design professionals.
Oversee the consignment program for high-end furnishings, antiques, art, artisan, and decorative objects, including intake, pricing, photography coordination, and merchandising.
Work with the marketing team to maintain and update Shopify, ensuring inventory accuracy and a refined presentation of products.
Collaborate with marketing to create content in Canva and coordinate Instagram Shopping posts and stories that highlight new arrivals and featured artists.
Support the Outside Sales Specialist with project coordination, order tracking, and vendor communication when needed.
Organize and host showroom events, including lunch and learns, vendor presentations, and community gatherings that foster relationships and engagement.
Maintain the visual presentation of the showroom, ensuring that displays are refreshed, cohesive, and aligned with the Hawthorne House brand.
Track retail and consignment sales, maintain accurate records, and assist with shipping, delivery coordination, and vendor communications.
Participate in showroom meetings to coordinate initiatives and share insights on customer preferences, merchandising opportunities, and community outreach.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Decorative Arts, Interior Design, or a related field preferred.
One to three years of experience in retail sales, visual merchandising, or showroom coordination.
Knowledge of furnishings, decorative arts, and lighting, with an appreciation for craftsmanship and quality.
Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
Familiarity with Shopify, Instagram Shopping, and web-based retail systems.
Proficiency in Canva, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
Outgoing and polished, with an appreciation for antiques and the decorative arts.
Comfortable interacting with clients, vendors, and artists, and capable of cultivating meaningful relationships.
Must be based in or near Athens, Georgia, and available for in-showroom work during open hours.
Compensation

As we continue to expand our programs and market reach, we are seeking a Furniture & Lighting Outside Sales Specialist to lead growth through our Concierge, Encore, and our To-The-Trade service programs. This is a project-based, client-facing sales role that blends design knowledge with business development and account management. The position is based in Athens, Georgia, with both in-showroom appointments, virtual and local travel for meetings and presentations.
This role is ideal for a seasoned furnishings and lighting professional with deep industry experience, strong presentation skills, and a refined understanding of the decorative arts. The right candidate will be entrepreneurial, resourceful, and relationship-driven, capable of managing complex projects from concept through installation while representing the Hawthorne House standard of excellence. There is tremendous opportunity for growth, expansion, and upward movement within the company for a high performer.Responsibilities
Develop and manage client relationships with homeowners, designers, decorators, realtors, developers, and property managers throughout the Athens, Atlanta, and extended U.S. markets.
Generate sales through project-based programs, including Concierge, Encore, and To-The-Trade service programs.
Conduct client consultations in the showroom, virtually, and onsite to guide selections in furnishings, decorative lighting, and art.
Prepare and present proposals and quotes for orders related to furnishings and lighting projects.
Manage all aspects of project sales from presentation through order tracking, vendor communication, shipping coordination, and client updates, collaborating with the assistance of the Retail Showroom Sales Coordinator.
Coordinate with bookkeeping and operations to forecast payments, track open purchase orders, and manage term-account timing with accuracy.
Partner with marketing and other company divisions to build outreach campaigns and sales tools and to maintain follow-up funnels with potential clients and leads.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the furnishings, lighting, and decorative lines represented by Hawthorne House while staying current with broader industry trends, materials, and innovations.
Participate in the design community by attending trade shows, designer show houses, vendor presentations, and industry events to strengthen professional relationships and identify new opportunities.
Prepare and maintain organized client files, proposals, and sales tracking reports.
Collaborate with leadership on strategies to reach monthly and annual sales goals.
Maintain strong vendor relationships, staying informed about new introductions, lead times, and product availability.
Meet or exceed monthly sales goals with consistent attention to client satisfaction and design integrity.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Decorative Arts, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience in luxury furnishings, lighting, or interior design.
Knowledge of furnishings, decorative arts, and lighting, with an appreciation for craftsmanship and quality.
In-depth understanding of the furnishings and lighting market and the ability to communicate with confidence and professionalism.
Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail and follow-up.
Proven success in project-based sales with a strong understanding of lead times, trade pricing, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat, with familiarity in project management tools such as Monday.com.
Working knowledge of Shopify, Instagram, and Canva.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to self-direct, forecast, and manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
Must be based in or near Athens, Georgia, with flexibility for off-site meetings and presentations.

The Showroom Assistant is a vital role for Hawthorne House. The ideal candidate must be able to work with clients on the showroom floor, keep the showroom floor in pristine condition, and work with operations to facilitate smooth operational flow. The Showroom Assistant must be people-oriented and customer service-focused.
